Editorial Policy
This page explains how Casual Findings decides what to publish, how we research products, and what we do when we get something wrong. It applies to every article on the site. Casual Findings is operated by Inter Media Digital Marketing LLC.
How Products Get Picked
We choose products against three criteria, in this order:
- Value. Does the product deliver enough for its price compared with realistic alternatives? A cheap product that fails early is not good value, and an expensive one is not automatically better.
- Availability. Can a normal shopper actually buy it from a mainstream retailer at the time we publish? We avoid recommending things that are perpetually out of stock or only sold through obscure channels.
- Real-world usefulness. Does it solve the problem the article is about, for the kind of person the article is written for? Features that look good on a box but rarely get used do not count for much.
No brand can pay to be included. There is no pay-for-placement anywhere on this site, brands do not see articles before publication, and free samples or press access, if we ever accept them, do not buy a recommendation.
How We Research
We want to be honest about what our research is and is not. For a typical article we read retailer listings, manufacturer spec sheets, and public customer reviews across multiple sources, and we compare products against their closest alternatives at different price points. We look for patterns in reviews rather than single loud opinions, and we treat manufacturer claims as claims until something independent supports them.
We do not lab-test products unless an article specifically says so. If an article describes hands-on use, it is because someone actually used the product; if it does not say that, assume the work behind it is research, not testing. We think research done carefully is genuinely useful, and we would rather tell you exactly what we did than imply testing that did not happen.
Prices and availability change quickly. What we publish reflects what we found at the time of writing, and we encourage you to check the live retailer listing before buying anything.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we fix it. If you spot an error in any article, a wrong price, a wrong spec, a product that has been discontinued, or anything else, email info@intermediadm.com with a link to the article and the problem. We verify the claim, correct the article, and for anything more significant than a typo we note the change in the article itself. Corrections are the highest-priority mail we get.
Advertising and Affiliate Independence
Casual Findings is supported by advertising, and some links on the site may be affiliate links that earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Today most links here are not affiliate links. The full plain-language explanation lives on our affiliate disclosure page.
What matters for this policy is the wall between money and picks: commissions and advertisers have no influence on which products we choose, how we rank them, or what we say about them. We do not check whether a product has an affiliate program before deciding whether to recommend it, and we will say negative things about products from companies that advertise. If following the money ever conflicted with serving the reader, the reader wins.
Who Writes This Site
Articles are produced by the in-house editorial team at Inter Media Digital Marketing LLC. We are shopping editors and researchers. We are not doctors, dietitians, lawyers, or financial advisers, and we never claim to be. Articles that touch on health, nutrition, money, or safety are general consumer information, not professional advice, and we try to write them so that this is obvious.
Questions about this policy can go to info@intermediadm.com.
Who writes Casual Findings
Casual Findings is written by a small editorial team whose writers publish under pen names. The people behind the bylines are real writers who prefer not to attach their legal names to shopping content, and we would rather tell you that plainly than let you assume anything else.
Here is what a pen name on this site does and does not mean:
- The writers are real. Each pen name belongs to one real person who does the reading, comparing, and writing behind the byline. Pen names are not shared between writers and are not attached to work their writer did not do.
- The names claim nothing. A pen name here never claims credentials, professions, or qualifications of any kind. There are no author photos and no social media profiles, because inventing either would cross the line from privacy into deception. Author pages describe what each writer covers and how they work, not who they are.
- The accountability is ours. Every article, whoever signs it, is edited and fact-checked in-house by Inter Media Digital Marketing LLC before publication. If an article is wrong, the responsibility sits with us as publisher, not with a name. Report errors to info@intermediadm.com and we will fix them under our corrections policy.
We use pen names for one reason: they let good writers work without tying their legal identities to every product roundup they publish. They are never used to manufacture expertise, and nothing on this site asks you to trust a byline instead of checking a source.
